Hobbiton with kids and luggage

Travelling with children and bags takes a little more planning. Here's how to keep the day calm.

Choose a vehicle with room

When you book, enter the number of passengers and bags. Our vehicles range from sedans to a large van for groups of up to 10, and the booking form shows which vehicles fit your group. If you're unsure, pick the next size up: a spare seat makes a long drive easier.

Child seats

New Zealand law requires children under 7 to travel in an approved child restraint. Tell us the ages of any children in the driver notes when you book, and message us on WhatsApp so we can confirm the seating arrangements before your trip.

Luggage on tour day

If you're moving between towns on tour day, a wait-and-return or onward transfer means your bags stay in the vehicle with your driver while you're on the tour. You don't have to find somewhere to store them.

Plan breaks

Long drives with little ones go better with stops. You can add up to 10 stops per trip in the booking form, such as a café, a playground or a supermarket.

Hobbit Cabs is independent and provides transport only. Hobbiton Movie Set tour tickets are sold by the official operator.
