The route
For the Auckland Airport example, the journey leaves Matamata towards the SH27 and SH1B connections before joining SH1 north through the Waikato corridor. The route continues past the Hamilton, Huntly, Pōkeno and Bombay areas before taking the appropriate roads towards the airport.
Hamilton Airport is another destination you can enter, using its Airport Road address at Rukuhia. Airport routes vary with the selected terminal or meeting point and prevailing road conditions. Check that the booking shows the airport you actually intend to use, rather than accepting the example destination without reviewing it.
Wait and return
If you need transport back to Matamata after your travels, add that movement as a second leg with its own date, airport pickup and destination. Both legs are charged as full fares. A return booking is a separate journey, not an arrangement for the driver to remain at the airport.
An airport connection, not a Matamata flight service
Matamata has a small aerodrome, but it does not have a scheduled passenger airport. Our Matamata airport transfers connect the town with airports people fly into and out of, including Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua and Tauranga. Select the airport according to your confirmed travel arrangements; we do not make assumptions about available flights or which airport is best for an itinerary.
Hobbit Cabs is based in Matamata. The service is private road transport between your nominated addresses, whether that means leaving home for a terminal or travelling from an airport to local accommodation. Give the full address at the Matamata end, particularly for rural stays.
Build the booking around your luggage
Choose a vehicle with both your passenger count and luggage in mind. The available categories are Standard sedan for up to three, XL seven-seater for up to six, Premium for up to four and Large van for up to ten passengers. If you are carrying bulky bags or equipment, check suitability before confirming instead of relying on seat capacity alone.
Airport pickup or drop-off carries a small airport charge once per trip. Use the live price above to review the journey rather than calculating a fare from another route. A change of airport, address, vehicle or stops may change what is shown.
Keep airport travel and local activities separate
Enter accurate travel details and keep your contact information usable while away. Your driver's name, vehicle and phone details are shown before collection through the booking process, and WhatsApp is available. If an airport pickup needs clarification, use those contact channels rather than choosing an unconfirmed meeting point.
For sightseeing once you reach town, we also arrange Matamata to Hobbiton transfers. Those journeys should be planned separately from airport transport so each booking has the correct destination. Any admission arrangements belong with the official operator; our role is the road transfer.
Hobbiton Movie Set tour tickets are sold only by the official operator — book yours at hobbitontours.com. Hobbit Cabs provides transport only.
