The route
The road connection from Rotorua towards Matamata uses SH5 and then SH28, with local roads completing the approach to your destination. The exact path from the pickup address may differ from the example beginning at the Rotorua i-SITE.
At the Matamata end, the driver follows the booking to the nominated address rather than assuming every passenger needs the town centre. Rural accommodation, a home and a Broadway meeting point can require different final approaches. Give the complete destination and any useful entrance information before the journey.
Wait and return
If Rotorua is also your destination after a Matamata visit, arrange the journey back as a second leg. Set its collection point and date separately, particularly if you will leave from a different property. The return is priced as another full fare rather than included with your initial transfer.
A connection between stays
Changing towns can involve more than moving a suitcase. You may have several people checking out together, bags collected from different rooms or an arrival address that is not ready to receive you immediately. Settle those details within your party before choosing the transfer pickup so the road booking fits the rest of your day.
The two i-SITE addresses are examples, not compulsory meeting points. Replace either with your actual accommodation or another clear location. Where a property has a reception area separate from the vehicle entrance, explain which place you mean so your driver and group are working from the same information.
Book the journey you actually need
Use the live quote to check your own combination of addresses, stops and vehicle. There is no need to provide contact details before seeing the instant online price. If another passenger needs collecting, include that address as a planned stop rather than relying on an unrecorded change after the vehicle arrives.
There can be up to ten stops on each leg. That flexibility is useful, but a stop should have a clear purpose and location. Let the office know if your request involves waiting or other arrangements beyond a straightforward collection or drop-off, so the booking can be considered properly.
Choose a vehicle and plan any onward outing
Standard sedans carry up to three passengers, Premium up to four, XL seven-seaters up to six and Large vans up to ten. Make the selection using both people and belongings: a party travelling between accommodation may have more luggage than a group taking a simple local outing. Ask about fit before confirmation if anything is unusually large.
This route arrives in Matamata, where Hobbit Cabs is based; it does not end at Hobbiton Movie Set. We also run Matamata to Hobbiton transfers for a separately planned visit. Obtain admission from the official ticket operator and use the correct destination for each transport booking.
Hobbiton Movie Set tour tickets are sold only by the official operator — book yours at hobbitontours.com. Hobbit Cabs provides transport only.
Questions
Must we depart from Rotorua i-SITE?
No. You can specify a Rotorua accommodation address or another suitable pickup when entering the route.
Can you take us directly to our Matamata stay?
Yes, use the property's full address as the destination and include relevant driveway or entrance instructions.
Does the booking reserve private transport?
It does. Your party books the selected vehicle rather than individual seats on a shared service.
How do we pay?
Payment is accepted by card only. Review and complete the booking's payment steps before travel.
What happens if our plans need adjusting?
Contact the office to discuss the changed addresses or arrangements. Do not assume an alteration is included without confirmation.
